Games for Hotels, Venues and Holiday Properties

Jaques of London supplies traditional games to hotels, country house venues, members' clubs, pubs, wedding venues and holiday properties across the United Kingdom. Founded in London in 1795, Jaques is the world's oldest games company. We designed the original Staunton chess set in 1849, the pattern every serious chess set still follows, and we first made croquet in 1851.

Hotel lawn games

Croquet is the classic hotel lawn game, and our croquet sets range from the Canterbury family set to the Kensington, our flagship for full lawns. For terraces and gardens, hotels choose giant tumble towers, kubb, quoits and skittles from our outdoor games collection. Garden games are best brought in overnight, and spares are available for our croquet sets so a lost ball never retires the lawn.

Games rooms, bars and lounges

For libraries, bars and guest lounges we supply chess sets, backgammon boards, dominoes, cribbage, mah jongg and the wider traditional games collection. Every set is solid wood, made to be left out, admired and played by generations of guests.

Guest suites and welcome gifts

Compact travel games suit in-room game libraries and welcome gifts. Every Jaques order is individually gift wrapped by hand before it leaves our warehouse.

  • The suites: a travel game or two per room, wrapped like a gift

Who we supply

Alongside hotels we supply weddings and wedding venues, pub gardens and bars, and holiday lets, cottages and Airbnbs.

Have a Question?

Do you supply hotels and venues?

Yes. We supply hotels, members' clubs, pubs, wedding venues and holiday properties across the UK, from a single croquet set for the lawn to a full games library for every space. Speak to our team and we will put a recommendation together for your property.

Which games suit which space in a hotel?

Croquet and giant games earn their keep on lawns and terraces. Chess, backgammon and dominoes belong in libraries, bars and lounges. Compact travel games work beautifully in guest suites and in-room game libraries.

What games do luxury hotels keep in guest lounges?

The sets that get left out and admired: a good chess set, a mahogany backgammon board, dominoes and cribbage. Solid wood pieces on a side table invite guests to play in a way a cupboard full of boxes never does.

What lawn games work for a hotel with smaller grounds?

Quoits, kubb and skittles need only a few metres of grass or gravel and pack away in minutes. Croquet asks for a modest flat lawn and repays it: it is the game guests photograph.

How durable are the games with heavy guest use?

Jaques games are solid wood and built for generations of play, which is precisely what a busy season demands. We recommend garden games come in overnight, and spares and accessories are available for our croquet sets so a lost ball never retires the lawn.

Can the games stay outside all season?

We advise bringing wooden games in overnight or storing them in their boxes and bags between play. They are built for hard use, not for wintering on the lawn, and a two-minute routine at close keeps a set in service for years.

Can you handle volume orders and lead times?

Yes. Standard orders placed before 1pm Monday to Friday are processed the same day. For larger or recurring orders our team will confirm stock and lead times up front, and plan deliveries around your opening dates.

Will you help us choose a games list for our property?

Yes. Tell us about your lawn, terrace, bar, library and suites, and how your guests use them, and we will suggest a set list with alternatives at different price points.

Are the games safe for families and children?

All of our products, including materials and paints, are EC and UKCA safety tested by an independent testing house, so every generation of your guests can play.
