A faithful reproduction of one of Jaques of London’s late 19th-century chess designs, the 1869 Edition Staunton Chess Pieces reflect the continued refinement and confidence of the Staunton pattern as the modern game became firmly established. The chess pieces are made from richly contrasting Ebony and natural Boxwood and are presented in a leather casket with brass fittings and an olive green suede-lined interior. Each chess piece is handcrafted and hand-finished in the classic Staunton style and fully weighted to ensure balance and stability during play. The set includes four queens to allow for pawn promotion.
